27 lakh farmers in 123 taluka of 20 districts will get benefit in Gujarat

First day of the monsoon session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced an aid package of Rs 3,700 crore for crop damage from heavy rains in the Kharif season.  This sahay will be given to 37 lakh hectares in 123 talukas of 20 districts of the state.  This sahay package will benefit about 27 lakh farmer account holders in the state.

Damage to crops including peanuts, cotton, paddy


Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has said that in August 2020, heavy rains in some talukas of the state have flooded the fields, causing damage to crops.  This year the monsoon started well and on time in the state.  In the initial stages, all the districts of the state had moderate rains and very good production conditions, but during the month of August, some of the talukas of the state received heavy rainfall and hence crops were damaged due to flooding in the fields.  Crops like millet, pulses, vegetables etc. have been damaged.

An area of ​​37 lakh hectares will be eligible for assistance


The state government has repeatedly announced that the state government is considering providing assistance to farmers in the state in case of crop loss of 33 percent and above.  Out of the 51 lakh hectare area planted in 123 talukas of 20 districts of the state, an estimated 37 lakh hectares will be eligible for assistance as per the aid criteria.

2 hectares for Rs.  10 thousand per hectare aid


In case of crop loss of 33% and above, a maximum of Rs.  10 thousand per hectare assistance amount will be paid.  In addition, the farmer should have at least Rs.  Must be paid  The state government has decided to give Rs 5,000.  An estimated 27 lakh farmer account holders in the state will benefit from the aid package.  Not only this, if crop damage is assessed in other talukas of the state, the state government will also consider it.

The portal will be open from 1 October


The portal for online application for this assistance will be open from October 1, in which the cost of online application will be borne by the state government.  Farmers will have to apply at the nearest e-gram center.  As per the application, at the end of the approval process, the assistance amount will be deposited directly into the farmer's bank account online, the CM said.

123 talukas of these 20 districts of the state will get help
